These are the questions people ask before they become a client, and the ones they ask after. If your question is not here, call or email us in business hours. We reply the same day.
Starting a business
Who we work with, what we do for you, and how we handle your tax. For the full list, see our services.
We work with small and medium Australian businesses. We also work with sole traders (people who run a business in their own name) and individuals. They come from many industries. We plan the work around you, not around a template. If you are not sure we are the right fit, a short conversation will settle it.
We give you financial reporting each month. That shows you where the business stands. We do tax planning during the year, not after it. We give you advice when a big decision comes up. Put together, you get clear numbers and steadier money in and out.
Yes. We use secure cloud accounting software (software that runs online, so it is not tied to one computer). You can see your numbers from anywhere. We work in the same file as you, at the same time. If you are still on a spreadsheet, we help you move across. See Accounting for what that involves.
Yes. We lodge (send in) your income tax return and your BAS, and we lodge them on time. A BAS is the form you send the ATO, the tax office, to report GST (goods and services tax). We deal with ATO letters for you. We also plan ahead during the year, so you pay what you owe and no more. Details are on the Tax & Compliance page.
A company is a separate legal body that runs the business. A trust is a setup where one person or company holds the business for the people who benefit from it. Which one suits you depends on what the business earns and who is involved. It also depends on how much risk you carry, and where you want the business to be in a few years. We set out the options and the trade-offs before we register anything. Start with Business Structuring. Or go straight to Company Registration, Trust Setup or SMSF Establishment (an SMSF is a super fund you run yourself).
Working with us
From the first call to the daily work. Meet the people behind it on the About us page.
Book a consultation through the contact page. Or email accounts@mettleaccountants.com.au or call 1800 METTLE. We talk about where the business is and what is due. We ask what you want from an accountant. Then we put a plan in front of you.
We send you a fixed scope in writing (a list of what we will do, when, and what it costs). You know the cost up front. Nothing starts until you agree to it. We add nothing later without asking you the same way first.
You deal with one person who knows your file. You do not get someone new each time you call. You do not get a call centre. The partners, Muhammad Ahmad (a CPA, a certified practising accountant) and Kunwar Sarwara, lead the work.
Call, text or WhatsApp us, whichever suits you. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00. Ask during those hours and we answer the same day.
